Jesus came to bring conflict, not peace
Jesus said, "Do not think that I came to
bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I
came to SET A MAN AGAINST HIS FATHER, AND A DAUGHTER AGAINST HER MOTHER…”
Jesus' ultimate goal is peace
Jesus said, “Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be
scattered, each to his own home,
and to leave Me alone; and yet I
am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things I have spoken to you,
so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take
courage; I have overcome the world."
Peace comes from trust
The steadfast of mind You
will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in
You.
Though all fails, God will bring contentment
Though the fig tree
should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive should fail And the fields produce
no food, Though the flock should be cut off from the fold And there be no
cattle in the stalls, Yet I will
exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. The Lord GOD is my strength, And He has made my
feet like hinds' feet, And
makes me walk on my high places.
God gives us peace
Many are saying, "Who will show us any good?"
Lift up the light of
Your countenance upon us, O LORD!
You have put gladness in my heart,
More than
when their grain and new wine abound.
In peace I will both lie down and sleep,
For You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety.
Jesus gives us peace
Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; My peace
I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart
be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”
Remember that
you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel ,
and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in
the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been
brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who made both
groups into one and broke down
the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in
Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one
body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. AND HE
CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE
NEAR; for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
Stop worrying, God will care for you
Jesus said, “Do not seek what you will eat and
what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations
of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.
But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. Do not be afraid,
little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom. Sell
your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not
wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth
destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Wisdom displays peace
Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him
show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you
have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and
so lie against the truth. This
wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural,
demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and
every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable,
gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without
hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those
who make peace.
