Confidence in the Lord
The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed,
A stronghold in times of trouble;
And those who know Your name will put their trust in
You,
For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Psalm 9:9-10
Faith without doubt is effective
Now in the morning, when Jesus was returning to the
city, He became hungry. Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and
found nothing on it except leaves only; and He said to it, "No longer
shall there ever be any fruit from you." And at once the fig tree
withered. Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, "How did the
fig tree wither all at once?" And Jesus answered and said to them,
"Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only
do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be
taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. And all things you ask in
prayer, believing, you will receive."
Matthew 21:18-22
Faith without doublemindedness
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who
gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But
he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the
surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. For that man ought not to
expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, being a double-minded man,
unstable in all his ways.
James 1:5-8
All is possible to those who believe
One of the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, I brought
You my son, possessed with a spirit which makes him mute; and whenever it
seizes him, it slams him to the ground and he foams at the mouth, and grinds
his teeth and stiffens out. I told Your disciples to cast it out, and they
could not do it." And He answered them and said, "O unbelieving
generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you?
Bring him to Me!" They brought the
boy to Him. When he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into a
convulsion, and falling to the ground, he began rolling around and foaming at
the mouth. And He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to
him?" And he said, "From childhood. It has often thrown him both into
the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take
pity on us and help us!" And Jesus said to him, "'If You can?' All
things are possible to him who believes." Immediately the boy's father
cried out and said, "I do believe; help my unbelief." When Jesus saw
that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to
it, "You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not
enter him again." After crying out and throwing him into terrible
convulsions, it came out; and the boy became so much like a corpse that most of
them said, "He is dead!" But Jesus took him by the hand and raised
him; and he got up.
Mark 9:14-27
Let us come with confidence before God
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has
passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our
confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our
weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without
sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that
we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:14-16
Take courage
After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the
mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. But
the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for
the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them,
walking on the sea. When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were
terrified, and said, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out in fear. But
immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take courage, it is I; do not be
afraid." Peter said to Him, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come
to You on the water." And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of
the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind,
he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save
me!" Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and
said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" When they got
into the boat, the wind stopped.
Matthew 14:23-32
Blessed are those who trust
Many will see and fear And will trust in the LORD.
How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust,
And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse
into falsehood.
Psalm 40:3-4
Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you
an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.
Hebrews 3:2
But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD, I say, "You
are my God."
My times are in Your hand; Deliver me from the hand of
my Enemy
Psalm 31:14-15
