The last day
Now at that time Michael, the great
prince who stands guard over
the sons of your people, will arise. And there will be a time of distress such
as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time
your people, everyone who is found written in the book, will be rescued. Many
of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting
life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting
contempt. Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the
expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars
forever and ever.
Daniel 12:1-3
Those who seek the Lord are delivered from death
O LORD,
they sought You in distress; They could only whisper a prayer, Your chastening
was upon them. As the pregnant woman approaches the time to give birth, She
writhes and cries out in her labor pains, Thus were we before You, O LORD. We
were pregnant, we writhed in labor, We gave birth, as it seems, only to wind.
We could not accomplish deliverance for the earth, Nor were inhabitants of the
world born. Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the
dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the
earth will give birth to the departed spirits.
Isaiah 26:16-19
The dead will hear the voice of the Son
Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour
is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and
those who hear will live. For just as
the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in
Himself; and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at
this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His
voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.
John 5:25-29
We will all be changed imperishable
Behold, I tell you a mystery; we
will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling
of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will
be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable must put on
the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this
perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on
immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "DEATH IS
SWALLOWED UP in victory. O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR
STING?"
I Corinthians 15:51-55
The dead will be raised
But we do not want you to be
uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve
as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose
again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and
remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen
asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the
voice of the archangel and with
the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
I Thessalonians 4:13-16
Everyone who believes will never die
Martha then said to Jesus,
"Lord, if You had been here, my brother, Lazarus would not have died. Even
now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You."
Jesus said to her, "Your
brother will rise again."
Martha said to Him, "I know that he will
rise again in the resurrection on the last day."
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection
and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who
lives and believes in Me will never die.
John 11:21-26
Passing through death brings life
Therefore we have been buried with
Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead
through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For
if we have become united with Him in
the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old
self was crucified with Him, in
order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer
be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin. Now if we have died
with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ,
having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is
master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but
the life that He lives, He lives to God.
Romans 6:4-10
Surrendering life brings life
Whoever wishes to save his life will
lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it.
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?
For what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mark 8:35-37
Sacrifice brings life
Truly I say to you, there is no one
who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or
farms, for My sake and for the gospel's sake, but that he will receive a
hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters
and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to
come, eternal life.
Mark 10:29-30
God beings great joy to those who love Him
Eye has not seen, nor has the ear
heard and it has not entered into the heart of man all that God has prepared
for those who love Him.
I Corinthians 2:9
